A fantastic article, dear Patrick.

I saw the J-to-the-oh-hell-R visit from Rht hon Rodney K 'I am the law' Starmer MP PM KC along with Rachel from customer care, and read about 30 per cent through his speech text. Lame. Utterly lame.

JLR export pause to the USA follows the best logic for now - send the cars after the market has calmed down, and the long-term taxes / duties are understood.

The exports do not count towards DfT's made up BEV sales chart or associated tax penalties. Or the EU27 vehicle manufacturer fleet average CO2 emissions tax, for units sold within the EU27.

It is scary how disconnected HM Gov is from commerce.

Jingye seem to have made lots of blunders, done a huge amount of propaganda (the £1.2 billion investment that never happened - try £330 million-ish, which we paid for) and the UK division directors should be prosecuted for dereliction of duty thanks to UK operation irregularities, in some cases resulting in physical harm.

The UK needs an industry strategy, an energy strategy (not subsidised unreliable windmills and CCP glass) and other strategies the present Labour Government is not able to do, because it is not serious about anything except absolute power.
